The first small steps are the scariest….

A first year university student at 43 years of age!

Who would have thought me, the one husband, four kids, two cats (well three if we count the one the neighbours’ had euthanased because she looked like a stray!!!),  woman who was never going to Uni they could take my advice and knowledge or too bad –

Yet there I was being forced out of my eldest daughters flat by same eldest daughter with the words “you can do it mum, hurry up you are going to be late for class”, what had I raised?  Actually I didn’t believe I could do, I was old – well old enough to be the mother of more than 94% of my fellow classmates (and perhaps even the odd lecturer and definitely the lab tutors), perhaps I was old enough to know better than to do this to myself, seriously.

However, my girl was right, she did right by repaying the ‘mother talk’ and ordering me to class.  Seven years on one degree I am now a postgraduate student nearly finished my Masters and loving every minute of it.

Throughout my seven year indulgence I have developed further my love of working with people young and old with so many talents, skills and abilities.  Whilst working with children, teenagers, sports people, adult learners, business people and educators I have been given many life lessons and hopefully provided some.  Through this blog it would be wonderful to meet like minded life long learners and find out the many stories they may have to share and the ways in which lives both theirs and others have been graced and changed by the words and encouragement of a stranger.

Thanks for your time – and a quote
